The IALE 2025 European Landscape Ecology Congress has successfully concluded with the participation of more than 400 attendees from 38 countries all around the world. The Organising Committee would like to sincerely thank all participants for their active involvement, inspiring presentations, and valuable discussions that made the event a true success. - Bikesharing opportunity at IALE 2025
Through Cyklokoalicia (cyklokoalicia.sk), the IALE 2025 established a collaboration with the Rekola bikesharing company (https://www.rekola.sk/). During the IALE congress, Rekola will expand its bike fleet close to the venue and offer two free rides for up to 30 minutes, within its app.Enjoy the beautiful bike paths that Bratislava offers!

During IALE 2025, participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops as part of the programme. Workshops are open to all participants and do not require any pre-registration (however workshop 3L requires preparation). More information about the workshops can be found at workshop page.

- Mayor of Bratislava Grants Patronage to IALE 2025 Congress
We are honored to announce that the Mayor of Bratislava, Ing. arch. Matúš Vallo, has granted his official patronage to the IALE 2025 Congress.
This recognition highlights the relevance of the congress and its role in advancing landscape ecology and fostering international dialogue. We are excited to host this important event in the heart of Bratislava and share the unique landscape and cultural heritage of our region.
- Online Late registration deadline
The online late registration will be available until August 15, 2025. We continue to handle each late registration on an individual basis and encourage anyone who has not yet registered to do so as soon as possible.
On-site registration is possible during the congress, but cash payments only will be accepted.
- General assembly
Elections for a new Executive Committee (EC) and Representative of IALE-Europe in the IALE Council will be organised at the General Assembly on 2 September, during the IALE 2025 European Landscape Ecology Congress in Bratislava. The current EC is in its final year of the present term and has initiated the process for electing a new EC. We hope that this election will encourage members to play an active role in IALE-Europe’s activities.

The next PhD Course Landscape Ecology – From Pattern and Process to People and Action will be
organised on the occasion of the IALE 2025 European Landscape Ecology Congress in Bratislava
(Slovakia).
The course will take place on the days before and after the European congress; participants of the
course will also have to participate in the congress (2-5 September 2025, see iale2025.sav.sk). We will
meet the days before the congress in Bratislava (SK) and afterwards move to Lednice (CZ):- 1 September 2025 (Bratislava, Comenius University – Faculty of Natural Sciences)
- 5-10 September 2025 (Lednice, Mendel University of Brno – Faculty of Horticulture)

Late registration is now open for IALE 2025.
All abstracts accepted during the abstract submission phase will be included in the Book of Abstracts, provided that late registration is completed by August 15, 2025.

We are greatly honored to announce the following news. As of May 5th, Msc. Juraj DROBA, MBA, MA, the Chairman of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region, has granted patronage to the IALE 2025 Congress. This patronage highlights the significance of the event and underscores the relevance of its central themes.
- Guidance for Presenting Authors
Oral Presentations: Presentation duration will be 10 to 15 minutes. The exact time allocation will be finalized in the final programme, which will be published after June 15, once registration has closed.
Poster Presentations: Posters should be prepared in A0 format, with dimensions of 85 x 120 cm (portrait orientation).
Please ensure your materials follow these guidelines. Further details will be provided in the final programme. - Final Programme Update

At the congress venue, we offer the opportunity to showcase journals, publishers, or other offerings in the field of landscape ecology. Exhibition stands can be rented for 200 EUR (including VAT) per day. In case of interest, please contact the congress organizers at martina.zvarikova@uniba.sk .

- Possibility to propose a special issue in Landscape and Urban Planning
Participants of the IALE Europe Congress 2025 will have an opportunity to propose a special issue in Landscape and Urban Planning. The proposal will be assessed by the Co-EiCs of the journal. It needs to be detailed, with a list of authors and the papers to be included in the special issue, in accordance with the Guide for Authors on the website.
- Call for abstracts has been PROLONGED
We are pleased to announce that the Call for Abstracts has been extended! The new deadline for the abstract submissions is March 14, 2025. Consequently, the timeline for abstract acceptance has also been adjusted accordingly. This extension provides additional time for authors to finalize their submissions. We encourage all interested participants to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their abstracts before the deadline.

Geografický časopis (Geographical Journal) publishes original and timely scientific articles that advance knowledge in all the fields of geography and significant contributions from the related disciplines.
- Poster Competition
To encourage high-quality posters and foster interaction among Congress participants, we are glad to announce a poster competition.
The best-rated poster will receive an award generously sponsored by Landscape Ecology (Springer).
