Changes and potentials of the urban environment

The excursion is focused on examples of the urban environment that has undergone changes over time. Participants of the excursion will meet at the Botanická bus stop (direction to the city center). We will go to the Botanical Garden of Comenius University in Bratislava where there will be an explanation of the history of the garden and plant specimens. We will stop at the IALE EU 2025 photo point in Botanical Garden in Bratislava and then participants will have time for a free walk through the Botanical garden (approx. 30 minutes).

We will leave the Botanical garden and walk along the Danube embankment. During the walk we will have stops on the Danube embankment with an explanation of the transformation of the urban environment on both banks of the Danube River – the transformation of the left embankment into multifunctional zones (River Park, Eurovea); the right embankment – a part of the preserved floodplain forest in the heart of the city with a significant water source of drinking water in connection of the largest housing estate in Slovakia which has undergone radical transformation since the times of socialism; information on the current urban plan for the territorial transformation of the right bank of the Danube between the bridges (Project “Lido”).

We will walk along the New Bridge from the left bank of the Danube to the right bank (approx. 10 minutes). We will reach the UFO observation deck – the iconic building, symbol of Bratislava. The elevator will take us in 45 seconds from 0 to speechless amazement. At the height of 95 meters with a line of sight to 100 km you will truly know the magic of the building which finishes the inherent part of the city’s silhouette on Danube. You will receive a gift voucher which can be applied in the UFO restaurant. The gift voucher includes: entrance to the observation tower, coffee, lemonade and a sweet for coffee. There is a panoramic view of the city of Bratislava from the observation tower as well as from the restaurant.

The excursion finishes approx. at 13:00. The excursion does not include lunch.
